Week 2: In which Charlie finds out he can work well

I honestly thought the transition back into Uni was going to be a tough one. Getting unrusted and re-acclimatizing to 3D work as well as re-establishing a workflow in general was something I was genuinely dreading- I've never been good at getting back to work after summer, especially as suddenly as we do in Game Art, with projects being thorwn at us immediately from the get go.
You can imagine my surprise when this week ended up going genuinely smoothly, with no real push back. My new team and I have been gelling well, and keeping up to date with all of our progress concerning the project and are actually ahead of schedule. Everyone is doing their job and working and it's nice.
Even my bout of freshers flu didn't slow me down; I had to miss a lesson or two but I was getting rest at home and keeping as productive as possible. My work speed is keeping a steady pace, and I'm enjoying getting back to subjects like life drawing with my new tutor, who has given me some fantastic criticism concering technical drawing and measurement. I'm learning a lot from his classes and did some interesting work concerning the constructs of anatomy and using simple shapes to make up bigger, more complex ones.
This week my big 3D task was the lower half of the bar for our Film Room project. I can tell already that this thing is going to be hell to unwrap, but I'm very happy with the outcome. I overstepped my tri count but was given some leniency by my group due to it being the focus of the room, and skimping out on detail wouldn't be wise for that particular asset.

This week, despite my illness, has been great. Legitimately great. I can't emphasize my glee at just being able to get to work and do it with such a smooth transition and have so much fun at the same time. It feels good to be back.
